DeenShield ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application. We operate with a privacy-first approach: we do not sell your data, we do not track you across apps or websites, and we prioritize on-device processing whenever possible.
2. Data We Collect
Location Data:
We use your device’s location (precise or approximate, depending on your permission choice) to calculate accurate prayer times, determine Qibla direction, and display nearby mosques. Location data is processed on-device when possible and is not stored, logged, or shared as location history. You can choose to allow this access “While Using the App” or “Always” (for widgets or notifications), or deny it.
App Selection & Usage:
We store your preferences for which apps you choose to block during prayer or focus sessions. This data is stored locally on your device or within Apple-managed App Group storage and is used only to enforce the restrictions you configure.
Device Diagnostics:
If you opt-in, we may collect anonymous crash logs and performance data using trusted third-party services to help improve app stability. This data does not include personal identifiers and is used solely for debugging and reliability purposes.
Support Communications:
If you contact us via email, we will receive your email address and the content of your message in order to respond to your request.
Note:
We do not require you to create an account. We do not collect your name, password, phone number, or payment information.
3. Permissions We Request
Location:
Required for prayer time calculations, Qibla direction, and nearby mosque discovery.
Notifications:
Used to send prayer alerts, reminders, and focus session notifications.
Screen Time / Family Controls:
DeenShield uses Apple’s Screen Time and Family Controls APIs to restrict access to apps you select during prayer or focus sessions. We do not see, collect, or monitor the content of your apps, messages, browsing history, or activity. Apple provides us with privacy-preserving tokens that only allow us to enforce the restrictions you configure.
4. How We Use Your Data
We use the data solely to provide the app’s core functionality:
- To calculate prayer times for your location
- To point you toward the Qibla
- To display nearby mosques
- To block apps you have selected during active focus or prayer sessions
- To respond to support requests
- To improve app stability and reliability
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, rent, or share your personal information with advertisers or data brokers. We do not share your location history with third parties. Any diagnostic services used receive only anonymized technical data for reliability purposes.
6. Tracking & Advertising
DeenShield does not track users across apps or websites owned by other companies. We do not use your data for advertising, marketing, analytics profiling, or user tracking.
7. Data Retention
Most of your data (settings, preferences, prayer status, and app selections) is stored locally on your device or within Apple-managed App Group storage to support app extensions. If you delete the app, this data is removed from your device. Support emails are retained only as long as necessary to provide customer service.
8. Your Rights
You can revoke permissions (Location, Notifications, Screen Time) at any time through your device settings. You can delete all locally stored data by uninstalling the app.
